Advent: A Call to Renew Lost Sabbaths

“Emily’s Reel” by Yo-Yo Ma and friends are my companions this morning.

Many of us suffer from a wide range of blues at the holiday season – anything from grumpiness to a bit blue to downright depressed. One of the kind of nice things about being older is being able to predict these things. Pretty much as soon as the turkey is in the frig and hopefully starting to thaw, I know. It’s not the flu. These waves of strange emotion have a pattern and a reason. Same patterns, many reasons.

This year I am anticipating an easier season though.

Easier not in the sense that I can predict how sad I’ll be. The news is horribly grim near and far. But, I’ve let myself trust some friends of late in a Deaf bible study and it is having a grounding effect on me. I’m more willing to try my wings and more aware that being open to a shift in my relationship in God is the most wise path among various choices on my horizon.

Easier because I’m determined to not lose my sabbaths.

My “can do” attitude has been renewed of late.

All this was to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah:
“Until the land has retrieved its lost sabbaths,
during all the time it lies waste it shall have rest
while seventy years are fulfilled.”

2 Chronicles: Chapter 36

Here’s hoping….

Considering Da Birdz (take two)

(Sorry…yesterday one of the links that I had for these eagle cams was broken. Do visit these sites, you won’t be sorry. Both moms are working on laying some eggs…exciting stuff! peace, Kate)

My favorite birds:

#1 = herons

#2 = Bald Eagles. Saw five last weekend.

Here are some sweet links to a live camera in a nest in Davenport Iowa, and another in Decorah Iowa.

#3 Owls

While I was looking for more bird links on youtube, I found this video of a little owl. Apparently “Lyze is a little owl, who likes to be cuddled. Enjoy his happiness! 🙂

But, unless you work for a sanctuary or have “Zoo Keeper” on your badge, don’t touch wild animals, k?

Thnkx. Eye m now going outside to lk @ real birdz.

Ahh Choo, Wanna See My New Plan?

Ahhh Choo!

S’cuse me. Got the sniffles here.

Did some thinking over the weekend though, and here is a new plan ahead for my Blogolita.

In the interest of not spending all day, every day messing around to put one post up, here is my new plan of action. My hope is that it will give me some days to fuss and fluff a post to my heart’s content, and other days that give me time to learn more about how to publish for pay.

Monday: Write a post that includes a family story that illustrates God’s grace.

Tuesday: “One Word, One Photo”: Put up a picture that corresponds to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge.

Wednesday: “Worried Wednesday”: Write about ways to combat anxiety, depression, and other…shtuff…that gets in the way of enjoying daily life.

Thursday: Highlight people, places, things that I think are cool.

Friday: “Forgiveness Friday”: Write something incredibly deep, moving, incredible, awesome, and life altering in hopes that I will single-handedly (well, double if you consider that I’m typing) end war, famine, hate, sadness, and umm, burnt toast. Or…just enjoy a minute or two at my virtual pulpit in the safety of Our Lady of the Blogosphere.

Saturday and Sunday: Reblog awesome WordPress posts that catch my fancy.

Sound like a plan?
